God inspired dreams frequently seem impossible. Of course, God is large and in charge of the execution, timing, and unfolding of those farfetched fantasies and sleep induced unrealities.

Joseph, in the Bible, certainly lived his dream that starts in Genesis 37. Two dreams consisting of images of the sheaves bowing down to his sheave, then the sun and moon and eleven stars bowing down to him.

His brothers, already resentful of their spoiled brother, sold him into slavery. How much further could one get from such an impossible dream? A lifetime of twists, turns and devastating events seemed to keep Joseph from reaching his dream. Only a faithful, loving God could bring the dream to eventual reality for His purposes and timing.

Our God seems to delight in doing the impossible for those He loves, and at the same time we get to participate in His divine plan. What a privilege.

My Own God Inspired Dream

This last weekend I was able to participate in a God inspired dream that began approximately thirty years ago.

Let me tell you about the farfetched ideation first. My friend and I went to a women’s conference on the Song of Songs. The teaching centered around God’s boundless love for us through Christ the Savior. The teacher brought the difficult to understand book, The Song of Solomon, to life for the participants. The teaching was life changing for me, and I thought, “I want to teach that someday.”

The biggest problem with the long shot dream was extreme shyness. I was a selective mute, speaking only if I had to. Thankfully I had a handful of sweet friends and a husband and family who accepted me. They were probably unaware of my self-isolation and anxiety producing condition. But the possibility of speaking in front of anyone was pretty much impossible.

Now for the God Dream Come True

Now for the God dream come true. After my own life of struggles and triumphs through God’s grace and touch, I have overcome my selective silence. I am now free to enjoy countless conversations, people and many situations that led to extreme anxiety.

The Song of Songs Weekend for Women came to pass. Through God’s grace and boundless provision, the weekend was a success. A group of talented women provided astute organization, a bounty of excellent food, a beautiful wedding cake, beautiful worship, a hands-on craft and so much more. The attendees were able to experience a journey of deeper devotion to the Lover of their Soul on their way to the Mountain of Spices. The journey was excellent.
