The glory of the garden continues in a song of praise through blossoms as if opening before God. The beauty of the garden is a display of God’s glory for us to enjoy as well. Wildflowers bloom on the roadside. Pastures are green with fresh growth from spring rains.
Likewise, as a child of God, Collossians 3:23-24 reminds me to work with all my heart as unto the Lord. Therefore bringing glory to God. I don’t know about you, but that is so much easier said than done.
My mornings start off great with a quiet devotional time with God. But as the day wears on and problems arise, the challenges begin. Problems crop up like weeds. Each issue demanding an immediate fix.
As a home health nurse my day can go sideways in an instant. I can’t find the house I need to find. I go an hour out of my way, losing precious time. A patient is sick and needs to be seen now. Then there are nurses notes to complete and the list goes on.
As problems arise, I must yield to God’s will, not mine. I must yield to the Holy Spirit alive in me. Prayerfully the fruit of the spirit will manifest in the concerns and conflicts of today.
As I write this I am keenly aware that the challenge factor will probably rise sharply in the days ahead. Hoping to bring glory to God is like praying for patience. As soon as the prayer leaves your lips, the test begins.
The Fruit of the Spirit
The only way to approach my day is through the grace and power of God. I can receive the fruit of the spirit and walk with the Lord through my day. Prayerfully trusting Him to help me with those challenges that so frequently distract. I can receive His joy as my strength, patience for frustrations, love, kindness, gentleness for those along my path. Then comes my least favorites: long suffering and self-control.
Oh well, another day of learning and practice. Whatever I encounter the Lord is my constant companion. Thank goodness. Right?
Bringing glory to God in all that I do is beyond my human strength. I have Christ in me, the hope of glory. In my life Lord be glorified. Today is the day to bloom where you are to the glory of God.
In My Life Lord, Be Glorified
Bible Verses
Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version (NIV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Today’s Glory
My beloved,
Enter into the Garden of My Presence in order that you may purpose to do the task at hand to my glory. Approach the garden with a new song in your heart. As we labor together let praise flow from your lips. Approach your day with my joy as your strength. Abide in me this day in the beauty and glory of the garden.
