Psalm 27: 4 AMPC Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.
Psalm 62:1 AMPC For God alone my soul waits in silence; from Him comes my salvation.
Waiting. Waiting can be such a difficult thing to do, especially in our “hurry up and get results existence”. Very often gardeners have to wait. They plant seeds and wait for them to come up. They wait for spring in the dead cold winter. Waiting can test us, make us angry and impatient, and cause us to seek God or a variety of other responses. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I don’t wait well and I can get impatient.
The Apostles had to wait too! They waited in the upper room from the Ascension to Pentecost. They waited and prayed. Prayerful waiting is probably the best, and it certainly produced good results for the Apostles! The Holy Spirit filled the Apostles and the result is the awesome day of Pentecost and the power packed growth of the church by touching of thousands of lives outlined in Acts.
Waiting CAN produce several things:
• Patience
• Increase trust in God
• Faith
• A willingness to let go of our will and accept God’s will
• Expectation
• A different solution than previously thought of
I’m quite sure that my list of what waiting can produce is not complete. I don’t know what you are waiting for my friend, and I don’t mean to suggest the wait will be easy. A spirit of prayer may help anxious emotions, periods of impatience, and an eventual answer from our faithful Heavenly Father. Please feel free to add a comment on what you’re waiting for and what waiting produced in your life.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us wait in earnest prayer for you, as we wait for the answers to our prayers. Increase our patience, trust, and faith as we wait. Thank you for working your perfect will in our lives. We thank you and praise you, Amen
Waiting is hard, but when answers finally come, it magnifies our trust in the Lord!
Amen!
