The Season of Advent
I love Advent. Advent reminds me to keep my mind and heart on what really matters at Christmas. The Christmas parties and social events make the season festive, but I can certainly get off track at and lose focus of the reason for the season! I enjoy the seemingly endless Christmas shopping, baking and eating of way too many goodies. As always, my heart can wander away from priorities.
Celebrating Advent brings me back to the true reason to celebrate Christmas! The coming of the Christ Child to planet earth! Nothing says it better than Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, to us a Son is given! What an event! Emanuel, God with us!
Advent reminds me to prepare my heart for His coming. Have I made room for Him in my heart this season ,or am I consumed with the endless business that can steal the joy of His arrival? Perhaps there has been a adverse event, or a loss in life. He came for wherever circumstance life may be dishing up. Through the season of advent my heart is prepared to receive His light, love and joy! Baby Jesus born in a manger, King of my heart.
