The heart of a caregiver overflows with a giving spirt to help and nurture others. Caregivers often give selflessly beyond healthy boundaries. Burnout leaves them tired, warn and weary in need of inspiration and energy so the next need can be met.

Caregiver burnout is real. When this happens, the heart becomes hardened. Calloused. Uncaring.

Preventing burnout is essential.

Nursing is definitely a field where caregiver fatigue occurs. Too many patients to see and not enough time. Going through the motions can take over. What once was a passion becomes a burden.

In fact, most of us have a caregiver’s heart: fathers, mothers, spouses, children, ministers. The list is endless. Include yourself.

Sometimes we need the help of another loving caregiver to give us a hand up.

Recently I was gifted with a beautiful hand-crafter leather journal. My heart humble, I knew beyond doubt I was loved and care for—by another nurturing caregiver. She happens to be my boss.

Where did she find the time to purchase that perfect gift? The gift of inspiration to lighten my caregiver heart. Delight, gratitude and joy added to my psyche.

The Journey Ahead

Excitement for a new journey of writing.

Today is the day I open my new journal and begin to fill the beautiful parchment paper pages with words. Hope rekindled for that next written masterpiece. At least that’s my hope. New adventures of a fiction twisting and turning with my imagination. Pages coming to life with beautiful words.

Or maybe a section reserved for professional caregivers experiencing burnout from Covid 19 patients and the countless baby boomers needing care as they age. Or a whisper from God.

Yes, the possibilities are endless. My beautiful journal is waiting and my pen is ready.

My caregiver heart energized by a thoughtful gift.

We all know someone who gives selflessly out of a generous loving heart. Perhaps they need your loving touch from you.

Scriptures for Today

A friend loves at all times” (Proverbs 17:17 AMP).

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38 NIV).
