abandoned vineyard

The abandoned vineyard is desolate. Like an oasis in the desert, it is now void of beauty.

Weeds are prolific in rows that were once clean and contained only vines. A weed free environment is requirement for best growing practices in order that the vines get the required nutrients and water from the soil. The overgrowth of weeds steal precious provisions.

At the same time, the trellis system, once strong and erect to support the vines, is now damaged by the elements, or a wayward turn of the tractor. :/

But neglected vines refuse to die. Somehow certain varieties survive. The vines and branches twist and turn as they grow every which way. In the spring they produce lush green shoots only to wither from disease, pests, heat or drought.

But the vines desperately need pruning and training and care by the vinedresser, throughout the growing season to produce a harvest of grapes.

Likewise, the church as a whole and Jesus followers, require God’s nurture and grace to thrive. Without Him we can do nothing. Our human tendency is to go our own way. Often with disastrous results.

Certainly as Christ followers we want to produce good fruit and glorify our Savior and Lord. As we surrender to God’s care and invite Him to take over, He rushes in to restore us to our original purpose and function. We thrive under His guidance, training and provision.

In conclusion, all we need to do is seek Him and pray for His will to be done in the church and in our lives. He can revive what we thought was lost.

Do it again, oh Lord. Amen.

Scripture for You Today.

Won’t you revive us again, so your people can rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation” (Psalm 85:6-7 NLT).

God’s Whisper

My Beloved, I long for you to return to Me, your True Love. Come, that I might restore all that Satan has stolen from you. Be refreshed and revive under my divine care and nurture of your soul. Come, follow me and glorify me once again. My mercy and grace are new every morning. Love, the Father.

Prayer for You Today

Beloved Child of God, may you draw near to the God who loves you and cherishes you, that you might thrive in His nurture and care. Amen.
