As humans we seek peace in a chaotic world. Our frantic search often leaves us empty-handed as we try this worldly remedy, then that. Self-help books are limited by the human understanding of the spiritual sick symptoms that cause us to seek the often-intangible gift of serenity.
Peace alludes us. Certainly, politicians cannot offer the inner peace of the soul. And your bestie, or spouse can offer consolation and a hearing ear, yet the yearning within continues.
But Jesus, the Lover of Our Soul, offers us peace. He promises to take our burdens we attempt to shoulder throughout life, and bear them for us.
And in Philippians 4:6 Paul exhorts us to gladden ourselves in the Lord. Our praise lifts our heart to a caring God, and we make room for peace we cannot manufacture on our own.
And as we pray about each instance beyond our control, God’s peace enters the once troubled soul. As we release those untoward circumstances to God’s infinite care and ability, He begins to work out the details for our good. We are freed from the fear of the unknown and the burdens that result in an anxious heart.
As we practice letting go and letting God, life becomes more joyful and peaceful. Serenity is found in His loving embrace and presence.
Often, letting go and letting God is a frequent exercise of the mind and will. Letting go can be difficult, as we attempt to control uncontrollable chaos within our world. But therein is our help.
God is able.
God is able, and He is willing to bear your heavy burden—even when we find ourselves in chaos and confusion once again.
A confession of my own is in order. Writing this blog brought a difficult test. :/ But thankfully God is faithful on good days and bad. Laying down my will for His is always best, along with patience in waiting for His timing.
May the peace of the Lord be with you. Amen.
Scripture for Today
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you” (1st Peter 5:7 NLT).
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT).
