Procrastination in the garden doesn’t work. Actually procrastination never works. Especially concerning weeding. Sometimes it seems like I’m growing flowers in the weed bed. The pasture wants to take over the flower bed and the vegetable garden. Sometimes I can’t see my flowers for the weeds.

One solution is to keep a hoe in the garden and weed daily. I learned that in a Master Gardener Class. Nice goal.

Certainly greater priorities grab my attention over weeding. Work, exercise, riding my bike or all the other actives in life that must be done. Consequently the weeds grow taller.

Last week irritation overcame my procrastination and the weeding began. My flowers were blooming their best once again.

Similarly in life procrastination has the same effect. Small irritations start off as just that. Then they grow and take over.
First things first can be a nice approach to overcoming procrastination.

Our pastor often relates that he has his quiet time before anything else. Even before talking to ©anyone. That’s a good priority to have. My quiet time is a priority, but not quite the first thing.

Another friend prays in the shower for difficult people in her life. She doesn’t get out of the shower until she is finished praying for them. This approach helps her to forgive quickly and get on with her day.

A quiet time and prayer are always a priority. Where would my day be without that? God only knows. Prayer allows me to meet with God and enter into His wonderful presence and to continue my day from there.

In conclusion weeding may not be a top priority. Keeping a hoe handy and weeding on a daily basis may be a retirement goal.

Bible Verses

Philippians 4:6 American Standard Version (ASV)
6 In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Colossians 4:2 Amplified Bible (AMP)2  Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving.
