Here we are in the middle of a crisis in Afghanistan. Tragedy gipping our hearts. And the many who need refuge.

So many questions. Where to go? What to do next? How could this happen?

Helpless here at home, we watch unbelievable news footage. Praying for God’s intervention for all affected.

Soldiers, equipment and planes rerouted to areas of desperate need. Or maybe not. Some grounded, waiting for transportation. Soldiers facing the unknown.

Fervent prayer needed for those who hold the delicate logistics of flights in and out of Kabul and elsewhere. For individuals desperate to escape those now in power. New Christians and the burgeoning church who seek safety.

Yes. Afghanistan is home to the second highest area for persecution of Christians. May the church continue to grow in the face of danger by the might and grace of God almighty.

And prayers needed for soldiers. Special protection from enemies near and far. Strength, endurance, mental clarity. Bless each one with what they need, Lord.

Also, a safe haven for the many individuals who assisted during the long, arduous conflict.

God be with us.

Prayer for Today

Father, we come before you today with concerns for our great nation and the conflict that ever threats in the Middle East. Please bless those who hold public office with wisdom, strength, and grace. We pray for this nation asking that you would protect her from all who seek to destroy it and the freedoms we enjoy. We lift up each soldier in this time of crisis. Bless and protect each one. Bring them home safely to waiting families. Protect your growing church in Afghanistan. Hide each believer in the shadow of your mighty wing. Expedite travel for those seeking to escape danger. May God bless America and Afghanistan at this time. Hear our prayer, Oh Lord.

Scriptures for Today

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty whose power no enemy can withstand.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust with great confidence, and on whom I rely!”
For He will save you from the trap of the fowler,
And from the deadly pestilence.”
(Psalm 91:1-3 AMPC).

“And now brethren, I commit you to God, I deposit you in His charge, entrusting you to His protection and care. And I commend you to the Word of His grace to the commands and counsels and promises of His unmerited favor. It is able to build you up and to give you your rightful inheritance among all God’s set-apart ones those consecrated, purified, and transformed of soul.” (Acts 20:32 AMPC).
