One day at a time is always good practice. Especially now as the the Covid virus holds us in an invisible grip.
Health care workers and other of the many essential workers are stressed and weary. New regulations coming out weekly as we struggle to meet the new demands.
The quarantined are quiet, isolated. All are having issues in regard to the silent germ that currently controls humanity.
And when will the grip be released?
Facing the day takes courage. A persistent cough here. Another friend testing positive. And yet another nurse friend traveling into a hot spot in Chicago.
New needs arise for the home health industry as patients are now unable to attend a simple office appointment with the doctor.
The thought of a normal day dashed in disappointment and unbelief. More patients to be seen.
My initial angry flare compounding frustration. Where to start?
Can I switch into high gear to get all my peeps seen? The angry flare subsides. My mind moves forward.
Okay…one patient at a time
A flicker of hope as details of the day fall into place. The impossible may after all be possible. Next stop. Bathroom break.
Then my miracles appear. One patient does not need to be seen, followed by two more.
God out of his grace and love has answered my plea once again. Beyond anything I could ask or think.
My humanity surfaces when stress is high. Maybe I didn’t sleep well last night.
When doubts mount and fear spirals into a fit of rage, God’s grace meets me once again. Pure, undeserved grace, love and peace.
The needed miracles appear. God’s touch evident.
How many times have I cried for help and my miracle was already there waiting to be claimed.
Or maybe there was provision of divine energy to finish the task just in the nick of time.
Another lesson in God’s divine provision.
God will give me what I need when I need it.
He has done it again and he will do it again for you too.
What are you facing in the midst of crisis?
Sometimes my own desperation steals the peace and joy God has already given me.
I’m sure I will get another chance to respond calmly to my situation instead of reacting out of fear or doubt.
Tomorrow is a new day. One day at a time, sometimes one minute at a time is more than enough.
Prayer for the Day
Father, our situations are desperate. Jobs have been lost, lives have been lost. Some are in grieving great losses. Some are overworked and weary. Farmers have lost their market and waste food needed by those who have none. And so many more needs that are not listed. Cry out to God in your need…God, show us your power and help each and every person in this crisis. Amen.
Scripture for the Day
” Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?” (Matthew 6:26 AMP).
