Just for today
Just for today
on this wintery, cold day,
I’ll ask God for patience as springs arrival awaits.
I’ll enjoy the snow and it’s white, bright glare.
I’ll bravely face the sun’s rays with tight clenched eyes,
and embrace a kiss from heaven above.

Just for today
I’ll enjoy a peace-filled walk in the pristine, frozen snow.
and blaze a trail through white, lacy fields.
The blanket fresh, the cold beauty surrounds
and I know very soon, this too shall pass.
Just for today
I will enjoy God’s scene, that beacons me come and explore.
The journey ahead with adventure afresh.
What lies ahead on this wintery trail?
Just for today,
I’ll wait for touches of emerald and greens,
and the flowers that bloom on the heels of spring.
I’ll wait for the blossoms in rainbow hues and bright blue skies after the winter’s cold chill.

Just for today,
I’ll enjoy come what may,
on this the day the Lord has made.
I’ll choose His joy that fills my heart,
and blaze a trail in the white, snowy drifts.
Just for Today

  1. Lovely poem. It would fit nicely into my ‘Just for Today’ book; Hope for Single Moms. It’s always a good idea to live for today, aware of God’s presence all around us.
