Hang on and hope for the best. Some days are like that.

Maybe your slumber was upset the night before. Perhaps your energy level is low and you’re not feeling the best.

Sometimes when I feel like that my mind and emotions seem muted. Getting out of bed is a struggle.

My usual approach is to say in prayerful praise “This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Followed by praise that the Lord that he loves me just the way I am.
Usually God’s assuring love and presence is enough to lift me above the dark cloud of a grumpy morning start.

Sometimes the struggle continues.

When More Help is Needed

Help can come in a variety of forms.

Once when growing up in the small town of Littlerock, California, my help came from an unexpected powerful source.

My dad had to tend to our pear orchard and would be making the three mile trip by tractor. My brother and I were certain we could ride our bikes to the orchard and back.

The trip going to orchard was completed with ease due to the downhill slope.

Coming back was another story. Uphill all the way, my juvenile legs gave out. The tractor was faster and my older brother stronger. I fell behind.

Dad, practical and resourceful had a solution. He harnessed a rope to my handle bars and connected it to the back of the tractor.

With an unheard protest, I climbed on the bike seat and grabbed the handle bars. Scared and wide eyed, all I had to do was hang on and keep my balance.

My dad looked behind with a smile. Although the tractor engine roared, I knew he was chuckling. I responded with an uncertain weak smile.

We made it home in record time.

Sometimes all you can do is hang on and trust that God is with you. He has your best in mind. Hopefully you’ll arrive in record time without a scrape.

Scripture for the Day

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Pslam 46:1 KJ21

What’s your approach to “one of those days”?
