The spiritual battle rages. I can fight with the weapons God has given me, or be beat down and depressed. That’s Satan’s goal for me and many others. And, yes. My bottom recently hit bottom. 🙂
After reaching out to a friend who knew my circumstances, she reminded me to engage in spiritual warfare.
With a heavy sigh, I wondered how I could have forgotten such a basic spiritual principle. After all, Satan has come to cheat, steal, lie and kill.
Just like in the movie War Room, God requires my participation in prayer and spiritual warfare to bring about change in my own world and in the world at large. I can pray and dispatch angle armies into dark places and difficult circumstances.
God’s power unleashed with thunder and lightening. Satan’s lies and threat of defeat dismantled by God’s glorious, brilliant light and truth. My voice thunders the Word of God and the sword of the spirit shatters the consuming dark invasion. God’s hope filters once again into my weak flesh and cluttered mind. Refreshment and renewal overdue and welcome.
Overwhelming needs arise for all. Personally, and globally. COVID-19 numbers increase again. Our minds react with fear.
Or we can pray. Prayer is mighty to the pulling down of strongholds.
Do you need to engage in some spiritual warfare? I’m agreeing in prayer with you if you do. Amen
Note to those who Fight Depression
This blog is not meant to minimize clinical depression or depression symptoms. The journey through depression can be complicated and require help from many aspects, including counseling, medication and other treatments. Spiritual warfare in this arena may offer part of the solution. Please seek help if you are down and depressed.
Prayer for Today
Father, I lift up all those who are fighting spiritual, mental and physical battles. Teach us to engage in spiritual battle as you meet each of us where we are in the fight. Ultimately the battle is yours. Nonetheless you teach us in your word that we do have spiritual weapons available to us through your Son, Jesus Christ our Savior. We cry out to your for help and release your angel armies as we join together in prayer for one another, and this hurting world. Amen.
Scripture for Today
“For though we walk in the flesh [as mortal men], we are not carrying on our [spiritual] warfare according to the flesh and using the weapons of man. 4 The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.” (2 Corinthians 10:3-4 AMP).
“Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, be firm in your faith [against his attack—rooted, established, immovable], knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being experienced by your brothers and sisters throughout the world. [You do not suffer alone.]” (1 Peter 5:8-9 AMP).
