Grapes require light for optimal growth and fruit production. While some plants prefer shade, grape vines require full sun.
Gardeners have a saying: “The right plant in the right spot.” That’s why when you buy a plant they come with simple instructions on spacing, sunshine requirement and soil depth for planting. Growth fails when requirements are not met.
My vineyard was planted in full sun. But a volunteer vine grew on a partial fence serving as a trellis. The vine grew despite full shade. The vine is a beautiful specimen, yet never produced fruit due to lack of sun.
Vines that get ample sunshine, water and nutrients produce luscious grapes. Those “good years” for wine meant the conditions were just right to produce a top-quality grape. And in turn exceptional wine.
Likewise, Christians require God’s continual light for growth, maturity, and eventual fruit production. And yes, guidance. Abiding in the Beloved Savior keeps our path clear.
Man is lost and wanders aimlessly in the dark without God’s provision of light.
God’s Whisper
My Beloved,
Come, and abide in the light of my countenance. I am light for your path and direction in the stormy tempest. Provision for continuous beams on the journey ahead.
My light illumines the darkness. The path is fraught with difficult obstacles and Satan’s attempt to make you stumble.
My stream of light provides guidance through the narrow path. Veer not to the right of left where temptation and distraction deter the way.
Abide continually in Me and the light provided. And yes, the promise to direct your path. Ahead lie the desire of your heart. The journey to apprehend the Beloved and all else requires trust and obedience.
Abide, my Beloved.
Surrender your heart and will and sojourn with me. The desires of your heart lie ahead on the horizon. Walk with me in the light as I provide joy to the journey.
Scripture for Today
“But the path of the just and righteous is like the light of dawn,
It shines brighter and brighter until it reaches its full strength and glory in the perfect day” (from Proverbs 4:18, AMP).
