We all love fruit. Who doesn’t like a juicy grape? Or a fresh peach? But the grape didn’t just appear in the produce section. Someone had to nurture a vineyard or a peach orchard and get the produce to market.
The whole goal of planting a vineyard or a fruit tree is a bountiful harvest.
Getting back to John 15, the vine depends on the branch to produce the fruit. But the branch can do nothing without the vine.
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, no more can ye, unless ye abide in Me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in Me and I in Him, the same bringeth forth much fruit, for without Me ye can do nothing ” (John 15:4-5 KJ21).
The vine and the branch are one. The vine gives all it has to the branch, holding nothing back. All nutrients from the soil including moisture are delivered from the roots to the growing grapes.
Yes. The goal is fruit production in the Bible as well.
Christ our Savior provides life through the living word of the Bible and life-giving refreshment of through a continual flow of living water. The branch or believer, then produces what we all want.
The Fruit of the Spirit:
“But the fruit of the Spirit the result of His presence within us]is love unselfish concern for others, joy, inner peace, patience not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23).
But the delectable fruit is not for the consumption of the branch. The sweet, tasty fruit produced is for all who hunger and thirst for the truth found in Christ and his saving grace. Those who need hope where there is none and joy in the grief fill mind. Peace in Chaos and direction for a path out of darkness.
The fruit, like Christ, draws the needy, thirsty, hungry passerby and provides the nourishment needed.
