Seeing others through the eyes of grace should be easy. But not always. Human tendencies of impatience, hurry, worry and fear can detract from the corrective lens of benevolence.
I get frequent, quick reminders when I make a mistake and hope that others will be patient and kind. The inner anxiety dropping, replaced with relief, when others do indeed extend grace.
When others see me through the eyes of grace, I’m reminded to extend the same gift to others when mishaps occur.
Lowering those high, unattainable expectations of others helps. We are all human and doing our best on a daily basis. We are also on the same playing field. Equals.
Maybe the other person is needing grace as much as me. Who knows what their current struggle is? Maybe God is leading them in lessons that don’t concern me. They certainly don’t need a road block erected in their path.
God sees each of us through unconditional love and kindness. He welcomes us when we make mistakes. Forgiveness is forever in His heart for His beloved children.
As I slip up daily, I hope love and kindness meet me.
Yes, now my efforts can allow benevolence to abound.
Scriptures for Today
“For out of His fullness the superabundance of His grace and truth we have all received grace upon grace spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift” (John 1:16 AMP).
“So you, my son, be strong constantly strengthened and empowered in the grace that is [to be found only] in Christ Jesus”(2 Timothy 2:1 AMP).
“Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong (1 Corinthians 13:4-5 TLB).
