The season of Advent reminds me to keep my mind and heart on what really matters at Christmas.

But Covid-19 is dictating the rules this year. No Christmas parties or social events to make the season festive.

That’s okay.

Celebrating Advent brings focus to the blessed reality. The coming of the Christ Child to planet earth. Nothing says it better than Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, to us a Son is given. What an event. Emanuel, God with us: hope, joy, peace on earth, salvation and all the promises of Messiah.

Advent reminds me to prepare my heart for His coming. Have I made room for Him in my heart this season? I can let go of worry, stress, and all the endless tasks at hand. In exchange I can add hope, joy, and peace in my heart and wait for the coming King.

Perhaps there has been a adverse event, or a loss in life. Perhaps the threat of Covid-19 is creating worry. Christ came for wherever circumstance life may be dishing out.

Rejoice.

Scripture for the Day

“For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given;
And the government shall be upon His shoulder,
And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 AMP).

Prayer for Today

Father, prepare our heart for the coming of your Holy Son. The world around us holds chaos, worry, fear for what may be. Lift our hearts in hope and joy for the true reason for this Christmas Season. Amen.
