Composting can be an excellent way to amend and enrich the soil. Now is the time that I refresh my compost pile. The recipe is simple: leaves, organic kitchen waste, cow manure and time. There are plenty of compost recipes that may require more ingredients. Mine is simple and effective.

First I collect the winter debris from flower beds and the vegetable garden, mostly leaves.

The second ingredients to be added are organic kitchen scraps. Scraps include egg shells, fruit and vegetable peelings or waste, anything overripe and inedible. The scraps are collected year round in the composting pile. I get a pang of guilt if I put organic matter into the regular trash. No animal protein or fat should be included.

The third ingredient is fresh cow manure. Cow manure provides microbes that aid in the decomposition process of the compost pile. Then time takes over. Next year I’ll have some nice compost to add to my soil. All the decomposed waste makes wonderful, rich soil. Composting is God’s way of recycling waste.

Planting potatoes
As I planted my potatoes I added compost to the soil

Comparatively, God works to compost the waste in my life. The waste consists of mistakes or messes I create. My recipe for transformation is a willing heart, repentance, reflection and prayer. I am powerless in the midst of my mess, but with God’s help my situation can change. With God’s help I can learn from my mistakes and grow in the process. God is bigger than my mistakes.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me…

Bible Verses

Ezekiel 36:26 Amplified Bible (AMP)
26 Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you, and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Isaiah 61:3 International Standard Version (ISV)
3 to provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
a mantle of praise instead of a spirit of despair.” “Then people will call them[a] “Oaks of Righteousness”,
“The Planting of the Lord”,
in order to display his splendor.

Today’s Glory

Come to the Garden of My Presence My Beloved. Be refreshed in your spirit and renewed by My grace which flows continually into your life. You are weak, but I am strong. Mistakes and falling short of My Glory are part of the human condition. My touch of love and grace in the midst of your messes are a necessary nutrient to transform and restore your life. Come to me with your mistakes and sin, casting all of your care onto Me. Receive My grace and forgiveness as My love and power mend your wrongs. Let go of habit patterns that so easily bind and walk in My righteousness.
