New beginnings new things

The onset of the New Year heralds the hope for new things and new beginnings. A fresh start after the holiday cheer.

And a fresh hope that the pounds gained will be quickly lost. And next the willful release of untoward events of the past year to make room for those new things on the horizon.

The verse that speaks to a host of new things is Isaiah 43: 19-21:

“Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, rivers in the desert. The beasts of the field will honor Me, Jackals and ostriches, Because I have given waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, My chosen. The people whom I formed for Myself will make known My praise.”

God is the author of the new plan. He is the provider. He takes the lead, and we partake and witness God’s goodness and refreshment.

As Christ followers we surrender to God’s will and progress on the path He clears in our wilderness.

God puts hope in our hearts for the New Year and new things on the horizon.

And our response is yes, Lord. Yes. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Is God doing a new thing in your life? May He provide strength and joy on the journey.

Prayer for You Today

Father, our hope is in you for this New Year. May your divine will be accomplished in each person’s life. And may you do a new thing and provide streams in the desert of hearts. We ask for your blessing of rain due season to California and other areas suffering from drought. And provide for the profound loss that communities and people have experienced. We praise you and glorify you forever and ever. Amen.
