The Love Candle of Advent - Nanette M. Holloway

The Season of Advent culminates with the lighting of the fourth candle, or the Love Candle, which signifies God’s love for humanity. Summed up nicely in John 3:16, NLT: ““For this is how God loved theworld: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

The Christ Candle

Then, in some churches, (mine included), the Christ candle is lit on Christmas eve. The candle is white, representing Christ’s life, righteousness, and purity. A reminder that he has saved us and makes us white as snow.

““Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool”” (Isaiah 1:18 NLT).

Week Three

Then, we backtrack to week three of Advent, since I posted a blog on Holiday Grief: the Joy Candle.

Also known as the Shepherd’s Candle, we join in thier rejoicing when the angle appeared to them. The theme for this week is based on Luke 2:10-14, NLT: “but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign:You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”

The Advent Season leaves us filled gratitude, hope, peace, joy, love, and Christ. I hope your heart is full of the wonder of Emmanuel, God with us. We who were lost in darkness are found at the manger scene, beholding the pure, perfect Son of God.

The best part about Advent is having Christmas in our hearts all year long.
